Cairns Netball
Cairns Netball Association is an inclusive and community-focused organisation dedicated to providing opportunities for players of all ages and skill levels to enjoy and develop in netball. Through competitions, development programs, volunteers, and our recently upgraded facilities, CNA fosters teamwork, skill development, and a love of netball!

Cairns Netball Association has been a thriving hub since its beginning in 1980. With programs and competitions from NetSetGo to Juniors to Seniors and Men’s, even carnivals, local events and representative pathways. As well as player opportunities, CNA is all about building skills for life! Providing training, support and prospects for umpires, coaches, volunteers and administrators.

Our history
Since its inception in 1960, Cairns Netball has evolved from a community-driven grassroots sport to a structured regional sporting body, becoming one of the most popular sports in the Cairns region.
Association founded
Cairns Netball Association was established, becoming the governing body for netball in Far North Queensland.
Key clubs formed
Local clubs began forming structured pathways for players.
Club-based competitions
The Cairns Netball Association helped transition the sport from informal play in the region to a formal club-based competition system.
Expansion of participation
During the 1980’s and 1980’s, the competition grew with junior and senior leagues, and an increase in affiliated clubs.
Incorporated entity registered
Cairns Netball Association became an officially registered, incorporated entity in Queensland, thereby formalising its governance and operations.
Major facility upgrades
We unveiled the largest netball facility upgrade in the Far North, expanding from 6 to 16 hard courts, adding 250 car spaces, and a state-of-the-art clubhouse.
Covered courts
We raised the bar again, adding a roof covering 4 courts, setting us apart as a truly unique facility in the region.
Strategic focus on experience and innovation
The association invests in player pathways and improved member experiences.
Installation of Solar panels and battery systems.
Court Lighting Upgrade, Public Announcement System replacement.
Upgrade of old club change rooms to Performance and Education centres.
